Ben’s journey with Artemis Tree Services began five years ago, and it’s been quite an adventure for him. With a love for the great outdoors, Ben Clark has carved a unique path that reflects his adventurous spirit and dedication to mastering the art of arboriculture.
Before joining Artemis, Ben’s passion for the outdoors led him to roles at a Scout Camp and Go Ape, where he embraced activities that connected him to nature. However, his fascination with climbing and trees soon sparked a desire to turn this passion into a career. He joined the Artemis Academy, where he completed all his training and qualifications to become a professional tree surgeon, setting the foundation for his future career.
After four years of developing his skills at Artemis, Ben decided to broaden his horizons by traveling to New Zealand. This year-long adventure was filled with exploration, new experiences, and professional growth. Based in Wellington, Ben immersed himself in water sports like kayaking and surfing, while also dedicating time to hiking and participating in the local scouting community.
Professionally, Ben’s time in New Zealand proved invaluable. Recognising a shortage of skilled climbers, he joined a local tree surgery team, where he gained hands-on experience with tree species he was already familiar with, such as birches, willows, and pines, including new ones such as the nikau and the cabbage tree. Over six months, he developed expertise in tasks like tree reductions and felling, and he even ventured into running his own projects. His work involved crane-assisted tree removals and supporting forest fire containment efforts – an experience that not only deepened his admiration for firefighting professionals but also showed him the vital role arborists play in safeguarding the environment.
Working in New Zealand gave Ben valuable experience in arboriculture. He improved his technical skills and gained a deeper understanding of the importance of trees in the environment. Facing different tree species and challenging conditions helped him grow as a skilled and knowledgeable tree surgeon.
Three months ago, Ben came back to Artemis Tree Services, looking forward to reconnecting with his family, friends, and the team that gave him his start in arboriculture. While his New Zealand adventure remains close to his heart, Ben was drawn back by the unique culture and professionalism at Artemis. “The equipment, the team, and the support here are unmatched,” Ben shares. “I’m proud to be part of a company that values both quality and teamwork.”
Looking ahead, Ben plans to revisit New Zealand to further his personal and professional journey. For now, he’s thrilled to bring his expanded expertise to Artemis, contributing to the company’s mission of delivering exceptional tree services.
Welcome back, Ben – your adventurous spirit and dedication inspire us all!
