Facing out over the Thames, Tate Britain on Millbank is one of London’s most recognisable buildings. The gallery was opened in 1897 as the National Gallery for British Art with its grand entranceway overseen by a statue of Britannia flanked by a lion and a unicorn, representing the best of British art housed inside.
Artemis Tree Services was proud to work on over a dozen trees at Tate Britain recently. The gallery is open every day (apart from 24-26 December) from 10.00-18.00 so the work had to be carefully planned with the safety of visitors a priority.
The work involved crown lifting London plane trees away from street level, pruning trees to keep the view of the building clear and re-pollarding other trees to keep them contained in their own space.
Artemis’ highly skilled workforce was very able and proud to be associated with the best of British.
