Our team recently carried out essential tree works at a Business Park in Theale, Reading, after concerns were raised about a large willow tree leaning within the car park area. The tree, approximately 20 metres in height, had become unstable and posed a potential risk to vehicles and site users.
The Works Undertaken
To mitigate the risk of further failure, we carried out a full pollard of the willow tree, reducing its height to approximately 3 metres. This type of work not only makes the tree safe but also allows it to regenerate with a healthier, more manageable crown in the future.
In addition to the willow, our team also removed several broken branches from a neighbouring maple tree that had been damaged because of the willow’s lean and shifting canopy. By carrying out this work, we were able to reduce the risk of falling branches and restore safety to the surrounding area.
Why This Work Was Important
Leaning or damaged trees in high-use areas such as car parks pose a significant hazard, especially in business environments where staff and visitors come and go throughout the day. Prompt action was essential to ensure the safety of all site users and to minimise the risk of property damage.
The works were carried out in a remote section of the business park, which helped minimise disruption to staff and visitors. Our experienced team completed the project safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards. The site is now safe, with both the willow and maple trees made secure for the long term.
