We recently had the opportunity to lend a hand at a local primary school embarking on an exciting community project. Eddy (aka the Waste man) was already offering his services free of charge, removing the rubbish, and put out a call for help on his social media channels for some charitable tree surgeons! Along came Artemis!
St Andrews C&E Primary School in Uxbridge aimed to transform a neglected side area of the school, unused for over 25 years, into a Nature Learning Area for the students.
The area, currently under construction, is being developed into an educational space where children can engage directly with nature, learning about various plants and animals. A pond has already been installed and the project is ongoing.
It’s a fantastic idea with which we were happy help with by sending our tree surgeons to remove a sycamore tree that posed a safety hazard and was overhanging the newly installed pond area. The school plans to open up the entire space and construct a shelter to protect the children from rain during outdoor lessons.
Our team trimmed and removed the necessary parts of the tree, as the school are planning on putting a table round it for the children to be able to sit around and be able to undertake various activities.
Our Team Leader working on the job said: “It was a pleasure to answer a request for help and offer our services free of charge for this worthwhile project. It will enable the children at the school to enjoy outdoor learning for many years to come.”
