The team at Artemis Tree Services recently completed a hedge reduction and trimming project at a residential property, focusing on two boundary hedges within the rear garden.
Mixed Cypress Hedge – Crown Reduction
The Job
The mixed cypress hedge had reached approximately 10 metres in height and required height reduction to maintain a manageable size while continuing to provide effective screening at the boundary.
Our team carried out a crown reduction, removing approximately 2-2.5 metres from the overall height. The customer’s side of the hedge was trimmed back as tightly as possible to maximise garden space.

Elder Hedge – Containment Trim
The job
the mature elder hedge along the left-hand side of the garden had become slightly overgrown and required tightening to keep it contained and well-defined.
The Artemis team trimmed the hedges firmly on all sides, cutting it back as tightly as possible to restore a compact and manageable shape. Elder responds well to controlled pruning, allowing us to reshape the hedge while supporting healthy regrowth.
This work:
Set the hedge up for easier future management
The Outcome
Both hedges are now neatly presented, well proportioned, and easier to maintain. The mixed cypress continues to provide an effective green screen at a more suitable height, while the elder hedge has been brought back under control to improve the overall appearance and usability of the garden.
