Our management team and office staff had a celebratory afternoon out last week at the Pro Landscaper Business Awards 2023. The event was held at Old Billingsgate Walk, a beautifully restored fish market on the north bank of the River Thames. Artemis Tree Services was delighted to have our apprentice, Maxwell Dingley-Butt, shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year award.
The awards ceremony was initially established to recognise and celebrate the business aspect of UK landscaping and arboriculture companies. Pro Landscaper’s Jim Wilkinson, said: “..with the Pro Landscaper Business Awards, we chose to highlight how well businesses operate their processes, staff training, health and safety records and consistently achieve positive customer feedback.”
The Apprentice of the Year Award was created to acknowledge that apprenticeships are key to the future of the landscaping and arboriculture industry, with established companies best placed to train the next generation of industry expertise. The judges were looking for apprentices that had shown a drive to further themselves in the sector, an impact on the company they work for and exemplary performance in their role as an apprentice.
Maxwell joined Artemis in 2021 on our apprenticeship scheme and has shown consistently high levels of enthusiasm and commitment since. He has been voted Employee of the Month several times, an award where our employees nominate their colleagues. He has proved to be an excellent climber, team-member and student. His drive and dedication have even seen him take the initiative and contribute ideas to improve the processes at Artemis Academy.
Our arborists here at Artemis all enjoy working with Maxwell because of his positivity and sense of fun. Despite his own personal reservations about coming from a traditionally less physically demanding sector and working indoors (Maxwell was a hairdresser), he has proved he is willing to do any task required of him, has an easy-going approach, and has embraced the demands of the role. Maxwell is credited in positive reviews left on our website showing that customers appreciate him too.
Although Maxwell didn’t end up walking away with Pro Landscaper’s Apprentice of the Year award, we are very proud of the amount of time, effort and energy he has invested in his role as an apprentice at Artemis Academy. His close ties with his peers and progression within the company are testament to Maxwell’s hard work and commitment. We were delighted to have Maxwell representing our company at this year’s awards ceremony and he is most certainly a winner in our eyes.
